Dogwood Challenge, handdyes

I didn't get anything done today since I went to the city to get my laptop and then on to the bigger city to Sam's and of course the viking store. My sewing machine needed a light bulb and since Columbia was only 30 minutes further I figured why not go and get that to. The local quilt shop that carries Vikings didn't have any light bulbs and last time I needed a needle threader they didn't have them either. I hate when I have to drive 90 minutes for something that should be stocked.

Picture are of my color wheels with black (top) and brown (bottom) additions for the nesting robin quilt. These are the same main colors as before all Dharma Fire Red, Sky Blue and Golden Yellow. The brown is Pro Chem's basic brown and the black is I think 602. I used the light value of the color wheel. Now I need to make my center still not sure what I'm going to do.

Also posted is a picture of my Dogwood Challenge. It's all handdyes and the flowers and leaves are silk, I quilted it myself. It was quick and fun to make.

Dogwood Challenge, Handdyes Nesting Robin

I was going to show you all a picture of my dogwood challenge project but my dh took my laptop into the shop today so I'm using his. I guess I'll tell you what the challenge is. In one of my guilds we are going to have a quilt show and it falls on the Saturday of The Dogwood Festival. This festival showcases what else but the dogwood trees. My guild has given the challenge to use the dogwood however we want. We can make a wall hanging, quilt top, towels, table runner you get the idea. Well I dyed the fabric today for the border so tomorrow I will sew it on and quilt it. I'll have it all finisihed it's not due until April. Today I also dyed some more fat quarters for my nesting robin quilt that I will be doing in my dyeing group. I did 2 color wheels with the addition of black and brown. I used the same main colors as I did before. I'll post pictures tomorrow I hope. I should say I will post pictures as soon as I get my laptop back.

Mystery quilt, Thimbleberries

This block is a lotto block for Thimbleberries. I made it yesterday but didn't have time to post it. Anyways we are given a focus fabric and we had to use it with only Thimbleberries fabrics.

This block is installment 6 in the mystery quilt. I made four of these blocks today. They sure were a challenge with all the y seams. I am finally caught up now. I had a hair appointment today and the gal was running an hour behind so this is all I got done. I did get to work a little on my Dogwood Challenge for one of the guilds I belong to. More on this tomorrow.

I received an invite to be a vendor at the Mancuso show in Denver only problem is its the same time I am scheduled for a class at Nancy Crow's Barn with Carol Soderlund. Now I have to make a decision if I want to take a class or vend at a show and make a little money. decisions decisions decisions.
