Happy New Year, Ironing area

First I want to wish everyone a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year. This last one has been a dozy so it can only get better here.

My wonderful husband has been doing the ironing for me since I have had surgery on my arm. Well I guess he didn't like my old setup for ironing because he decided I needed a new ironing station. He says the old one was falling apart all the time well it was. The baskets didn't want to stay in their runners and the top which was just metal bars was pulling apart and he had to keep pushing it back together. Well in my husband's eye my 72x24 ironing surface wasn't big enough (he always says bigger is better) and he wanted to put together 4 base cabinets with wheels on the bottom to make it portable and then a new board on top of that. That now makes my ironing area 76x30 and an additional 4 inches higher now I'm hoping it's not to high for me to iron on. He says if it is he will put a platform for me to stand on, then I can see myself tripping everytime I leave that area anyways it's the thought that counts so to celebrate the new year it's out with the old and in with the new. I do still need to take everything out of the baskets and put them in the drawers and he needs to put knobs on the front to open the drawers. Now I will have the old ironing top for sale, just the wood top not the the baskets under it or a cover for it. Here are some pictures of the old to the new. I still have room behind it to store the bins I keep my fabric for sale in.

Here's the new ironing station.

I have those same pull out drawers and they are a pain because they do keep falling off the railing.

  4. Love your new ironing station. I actually also got a new steam iron and ironing board for Christmas and immediately thought of you. You know how much I hate the ironing and how you're always ironing each piece at our workshops. I also love your new blog effects! Looks like you're starting out very much on a roll!

  5. That is awesome. I keep wanting to do something like this, I'm pretty sure hubby would be thrilled to have a project like this to take on. I hope you don't mind, I'd like to save the pictures to a file of "honey do" projects.
