Quilting

Yesterday I had 2 quilts brought to me to quilt for others, one was a monster it measured 109x164 yeap that was the measurements and the back was 118x96. I called my client and told her the back was to small for the top and she told me to take off some of the blocks so it would fit. I informed her I would have to charge for that service and she said no I'm on a fixed income so I'll come get it and fix it.

The other client gave me a top and back that were both the same size, so I called her and she is hoping she has more of the fabric that she pieced together for the back to make it bigger. I should hear back from both of these clients later this week.

In the meantime I'm working on a ufo, I finally got the top all done and hope to get it loaded onto the longarm within the next few days. This particular quilt was started in 2004 and was a block of the month. I was working at the quilt shop at the time and never did get mine finished it (I know that is not an excuse) it sure feels good to get another ufo done but I still have to quilt it so pictures will come later.

Spaghetti Quilt and Client's Quilt

This quilt is known as a Spaghetti Quilt or  as the quilt from the Jelly Roll Race. You use one jellyroll or bali pop to make this. I made this at retreat Friday night. Today I got it quilted and bound.

This quilt belongs to a client. She made this in a guild workshop last fall. I quilted it yesterday for her.

Today I am back to doing some snowdyeing of mandala's need to be getting ready for the spring quilt shows they start real soon.

Stack and Slash

WOW it's been awhile since I posted about much of anything. I have been busy quilting clients quilts and now that I am all caught up for the time being I decided to make my grandkids some flannel quilts. I decided to use the stack and slash method, I got 17 blocks made today but need a few more for this quilt and then a border on it. All the quilts will be made the same way just something for them to drag around and keep warm with. 63 more blocks to make then to quilt and bind them hope to have them all done for Christmas but who knows what will happen between now and then.

Fairfax County Fair and Charity quilt

The grandkids have been here all week and it's been so hot so we spent all our time in the pool. Since they are gone now I am back to sewing, I finished the Fairfax County Fair quilt today and also made a small charity quilt. The charity quilt is one of those for Downy Quilts for Kids. You request a kit and they send one with all the fabric you need to make a small quilt. They would like you to have it made, quilted and washed before returning and also ask you send another quilt along with it out of your own fabric and have it back in 4 to 6 weeks time. This is the second time I am doing one of their quilts. I hope to get both of these quilted tomorrow and make another small quilt this weekend.

                                       

quilts, rusting and swimming

Here is a little of what I have been working on recently. These quilts are samples for my booth. The weather has finally warmed up to the 90's and the pool got to 82 so it's time to cut back on my sewing, dyeing and quilting and get out and swim everyday.

This quilt is called Party on The Block and it's by Karie Patch. I have the binding to get on this quilt still. There will be kits and patterns for sale at my next show.

This rusted piece came off the barrel this morning. It is 3 yards long and still needs to be washed out. It will sell for $75.00

This quilt is called Winter Break and is from Judy Laquidara's new book Weekend Quilts, it is also the one I started a few weeks ago when I was sewing and dyeing fabric. I finally got it quilted today and hope to get it bound tomorrow.

This is what I have gotten done this week. I have this pile of quilts I have had sitting there and this week I started to work on them I got these all quilted and bound. I also got my blocks made for the Jo Morton Retreat I will be attending in Feb, I know it's early but I have the time to so I better get them done while I can.
