Here is some rusted pieces I did this past week. These will also be for sale in Paducah.

Busy in the Studio

I've been busy in the studio getting ready for the spring quilt shows. These are rusted fabrics, first ones off the burn barrel this year. I really like the texture you get using this technique.

This is a client's quilt I did this morning. So simple but makes for a really nice quilt. I quilted butterflies on it.

More snow dyed mandalas these will all be for sale at the quilt shows coming up.

Rusted Fabric

These pieces of rusted fabric I took off the burn barrel today they still need to be washed out I have just hosed them down to get the first layer of dirt/rust off. I don't think I'm going to keep them in one piece thou. Right now each piece is 3 yards long, the top piece on the left you can see a crater and the land going down to it, the middle of the piece I see a volcano towards the top and lava flowing down from it and the right side just looks like a landscape to me. Any opinions of what you see?

alot going on today

Some snowdyed velvet and a t shirt both done the same color.

I started another small quilt, I got half of it cut our yesterday and the rest today, I then started piecing the blocks, I got 10 done out of the 56 I need. The name of this quilt is called Autumn Crossing by Jo Morton.

Here is a new sign I had made, I'm going to hang this out by the road and hope to get some new customers.

block and fabric

This little 6 1/2" block is for my guild. I am responsible in supplying the fabric and instructions for a block. It was suggested that I pick a 6" finished block and maybe some colors that could be used in a baby quilt for donations.  I choose this dot fabric for the background and everyone can use what fabric they want for the star.

This is a piece of rusted fabric that I had sitting around. I didn't think it had enough rust on it so I decided to take some tea leaves and add it to boiling water and then put it on top of the fabric. In these pictures the fabric is still wet but after washing it out it was alot lighter in color. I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it but it did turn out okay. I may use some turquoise dye on it next.

Rusted Fabric

This piece of rusted fabric came off the barrel today, It turned out okay but it doesn't have as much rust on it as some of the others so I think I should of either left it on longer or need to wait until there is more rust on the barrel. I'm not sure if I will leave it in one piece I may cut it into some fat quarters.

quilts, rusting and swimming

Here is a little of what I have been working on recently. These quilts are samples for my booth. The weather has finally warmed up to the 90's and the pool got to 82 so it's time to cut back on my sewing, dyeing and quilting and get out and swim everyday.

This quilt is called Party on The Block and it's by Karie Patch. I have the binding to get on this quilt still. There will be kits and patterns for sale at my next show.

This rusted piece came off the barrel this morning. It is 3 yards long and still needs to be washed out. It will sell for $75.00

This quilt is called Winter Break and is from Judy Laquidara's new book Weekend Quilts, it is also the one I started a few weeks ago when I was sewing and dyeing fabric. I finally got it quilted today and hope to get it bound tomorrow.
