Catching Up

I finally caught up with all the ironing from the past few days. Here is a little of what I did, some snowydyes, some tray dyeing and some discharge. I tried a different fabric then what I usually use and it came out more of a dull suede texture then the bright I am use to getting.

Today after snowdyeing 9 yards of fabric I started making this Paperdoll quilt for my granddaughter. I also got 10 yards of fabric rinsed and ironed, 30 yards of fabric and 3 pairs of socks scoured. I should be able to get the binding on this quilt tomorrow afternoon.



These are just a few of the snowdyed fabric and one of a kinds I have been working on lately for the Crown Point, IN Quilt Show Oct 3-4.

Bent Pieces Quilt, Handdyes, Ice Dyed Fabric

I have been working on this quilt for the last few days. I used both handdyed fabric and batiks in it. The name of the pattern is Bent Pieces. Now I need to quilt it and I haven't decided how to yet or even what color thread to use. Any ideas?
After hearing so much about ice dyeing I thought I would try a piece. The pictures below are a full yard in size the bottom picture is a close up. Ice Dyeing is when you take your fabric and soak it in soda ash for at least 10 minutes then you take the piece and put it in your freezer in a cup, bowl, or baggie and after it is frozen you take it out and add the dye to it and let your fabric thaw. I do like the results I got so I will probably do more it, you get a different texture on it then what I get when I snowdye.

No Place Like Home

There's No Place Like Home!!

We took off on Monday for a few days to play and relax but it's always nice to be back home.

I did get to stop at Marshall Dry Goods on the way home and get some more wideback pfd fabrics. I like to dye the fabric for the backs of my quilts especially when the fronts are already dyed.

Tomorrow will be back to work. I have fabric that I overdyed last Sunday sitting there waiting to be rinsed.

I heard from my daughter and she will be delivering a new baby boy to us probably in another week. This will make her 4th child and they are saying this one will probably be an 8 pounder. The first one was 6 lbs 2 oz and they go up from there.
