black and white log cabin quilt

My goal today was to get the log cabin quilt done and quilted. Well I got it done but it's not quilted. I don't leave until Tuesday for the next show so I still have time to quilt it. I really like the way this turned out thanks for all the input.

Sunset Safari Done

Today I finished the Sunset Safari quilt. I had to make some changes from the pattern since the borders didn't fit according to the measurements given so the small black rectangles on the top and bottom of the strips I made smaller. I also made the black strips on each side of the squares narrower all and all I like the way it ended up. I quilted it by outlining the elephants and the trees and stitching in the ditch along the borders..

Sunset Safari

Today I finished the last customer quilt I brought home from guild on Tuesday so I started on a small quilt. This quilt is called Sunset Safari and is made from handdyes and batiks. I still need to add borders so tomorrow I hope to get it completed. I will sell kits of this quilt in my booth.

dyeing day and gobble gobble

These snowdyed pieces are all different shades of green I was running low on greens in my inventory so I replenished them. All the fabrics you see below are all rinsed, washed, dried, ironed, photographed, folded and labeled.






These pieces were done with black, this black had a blue tone to it and didn't do quit what I wanted but I do like the way they turned out. The one with the purple strip was done with boysenberry and black.






This rusty orange color was a hot seller at the last show, I needed to replenish my stock so I did 3 yards yesterday in this color.



I saw this quilt hanging in just about every booth when I was in Madison last weekend. The name of the quilt is Gobble Gobble, I thought it was cute and bought the kit and brought it home. Well it wasn't long before I had to make it and today after snowdyeing 9 yards and getting ready for tomorrow's dye session I made this top. Now to find the time to quilt it.

Bent Pieces Quilt, Handdyes, Ice Dyed Fabric

I have been working on this quilt for the last few days. I used both handdyed fabric and batiks in it. The name of the pattern is Bent Pieces. Now I need to quilt it and I haven't decided how to yet or even what color thread to use. Any ideas?
After hearing so much about ice dyeing I thought I would try a piece. The pictures below are a full yard in size the bottom picture is a close up. Ice Dyeing is when you take your fabric and soak it in soda ash for at least 10 minutes then you take the piece and put it in your freezer in a cup, bowl, or baggie and after it is frozen you take it out and add the dye to it and let your fabric thaw. I do like the results I got so I will probably do more it, you get a different texture on it then what I get when I snowdye.

Stacked Posie Supreme

Today I got to play and took a class at a local quilt shop. The class I took was the Stacked Posie Supreme. It is kinda like a Stack N Whack as it gets the kaleidoscope effect. The fabric I choose was pansy's but by the pictures you wouldn't know it. I was able to make 7 blocks in class they still need two more borders but that we are suppose to do in class next week. The total number of blocks is going to be 42 I need to have them all made by class next week. 7 down 35 more to go.

Stars and Strips Quilt

I finished another quilt top today. This one is called Stars and Strips and is done entirely in my handdyes. It still needs to be quilted but my studio needs to be cleaned first.

Log Cabin Quilt

This is a log cabin quilt made with only 2 fabrics. I had purchased the fabric and pattern many years ago before I started dyeing my own fabric. This pattern and fabric is from Wild Heather Design. My friend Susan did one using parfaits which I think I like better. I'm going to make another using parfaits since this is such a quick pattern. Now to dye backing fabric and to quilt it.

Quilt

I finally finished this quilt for my dh for christmas. He picked out the kit while we were in Schaumburg so I thought I should get it done for Christmas.
I also got my cookies baked and I'm ready Christmas except doing a little cooking on Christmas Eve. We will be spending the night with the grandkids since daddy is in Afghanistan. Merry Christmas to all.
