I have been working on a quilt in between longarm quilting for others. This little quilt is baby size and the pattern is called Jack and Jill by Kariepatch, the pattern comes with a boy and a girl quilt where this one has sail boats the other one has flowers appliqued. It was made with my handdyes. Click on pictures to see closeup.

Busy Day in Studio
It was a busy day in the studio I finished all the longarm quilting on the Urban Cabin quilt and got it bound it's all handdyes but the background. I also bound the baby quilt. I then got all the fabric cut out for another quilt called Jack and Jill, I'll be making the Jack quilt, This pattern has two in it one for a girl and one for a boy hence the name Jack and Jill. If you click on the picture it will enlarge and you can see the quilting up close.

Wonky Block Quilt
Yesterday I got the Yellow Brick Road quilt quilted so today I worked on the Wonky Block Quilt. I still have a few areas to fill in but it's almost done it still needs a solid border then I plan a skinny piano key border. By skinny I mean the size of the strips will be only about an inch wide and will be at an angle so not a regular piano key border.
I won't get back to this quilt until Monday I get the stitches out of my hand tomorrow then plan on going to see my grandkids. We have been trying for the past two weekends to go see them but we had accumulative snow every weekend. This weekend it's suppose to snow but I'm hoping it's just flurries. Anyone else tired of winter? I know I'm ready for spring.

handdyed quilt and deer
We got the van loaded and are heading out to IN in the morning for the quilt show in Crown Point, I sure hope the weather holds off we are expecting severe weather tomorrow and I hate to travel when it rains. Looks like when we get to IN it's suppose to rain all weekend there as well and the temps are suppose to be cooler.
I told you yesterday that I was working on a quilt but only had the blocks made, today I got those blocks sewed into rows and need to put the rows together and add 4 borders to it. This quilt is called Bachelor Button and is made out of handdyes and the sashing is a batik.

This is looking out my front window last night. Marc made this out of pvc pipe and filled it with almost 50 pounds of deer corn. Looks like we have some takers, even though hunting season is coming up in Nov we won't be here and this deer will be safe at least at our house.

handdyed quilt, wallhanging, rust dyeing
After not posting for a week here is a second post in one day. The internet seems to be cooperating today and I have been able to read my email and also post these pictures in my blog. Funny all I had to do was say it was running soooo slooowww. It still is but not as bad as the last few days.
This piece is called Think Spring. I spent the day today making this. I used raw edge applique. It really was quick and fun to do. I will get the binding on it tomorrow, this will hang in my booth at shows I do have the pattern. There is another border to go around the outside with more applique but I like it this way better.
This is the quilt and pillowcase I made my grandson for his birthday next month. I'm hoping to get it quilted tomorrow I had to dye fabric for the back again I goofed and measured wrong and the fabric was to small otherwise it would of been done today.

This is my first piece of rusted fabric that I have done. I think it turned out okay but I did let it sit for 3 days before I was able to get back to it and finish it up.

Floating Blocks Quilt
I finished the floating blocks quilt this afternoon. It's not laying very flat on my design wall but I really like how this turned out. I did have some help Flat Stanley learned how to make this quilt top. Tomorrow after I snowdye 9 more yards of fabric I will get this top quilted and hopefully get a second quilt on my machine. So much to do so little time. The picture isn't that great of a picture I used my cellphone instead of my camera.

Slideshow Handdyed Quilt
This is the quilt I started yesterday called slideshow. I'm to the point of adding borders but can't decide which color to go with. I tried a red/pink like what is in the quilt and it just pulled out that color and was way to much so I vetoed that. Any suggestions on which color to pick? I'm leaning towards of green but still not sure.

Hip to Be Square, handdyes
I was going to get my daily swim in but I decided it was to hot out today and the pool water was just a tad bit to warm. It was something like 96 and the temp outside is 102. I sure hate to see what the heat index is today.
This picture is of two fabrics that I dyed using the same dye color. The one on the left is the wider version of the Hoffman Lawn and doesn't dye as bright or rich as the regular lawn. The picture on the right is what the people at Hoffman call sateen. It is so soft and dyed up beautifully. Even my husband liked the feel better then the regular hoffman lawn or the wider lawn. I gave him 3 different pieces of fabric and didn't tell him which was which and he liked the sateen the best.

I finally got the Hip to be Square quilt quilted today. I used a popcorn pantograph. I will get it bound tomorrow and get a label on it and it will be ready for me to hang in my booth at the Nashville AQS show.

This is a backing piece of fabric that I dyed in a gutter. I used this for the back of the Hip to Be Square Quilt. I like the way it turned put except for the one really dark line going the other direction. I will have to get me a 10 foot gutter, where as this one is only 5 foot and the fabric has to be folded to fit.

Hip to Be Square
Yesterday I got up early to take my dh to the doctor he got another shot in his spine. He starts therapy in two weeks. Today I got up early once again to go to the dentist that was a good chunk of money then on to Walmart to fill the gas tank up. Then of course since I had to go by the quilt shop I had to stop. I found some really cute Halloween fabric to either use as 3 trick or treat bags or as a wall quilt. Not sure which I am going to do. After getting home I was able to make these blocks for a quilt. The quilt is called hip to be square. I'm still thinking about moving the blocks around a little what do you all think??? Tomorrow I get to get up early once again this time for me to go to the doctor. I got bit by a spider and it left a lump, my doctor thinks I need to see a surgeon to have it removed.

Another picture of the same quilt.

JBob's Baby Quilt
My laptop is still in the shop but I got my dh to add my printer with photoshop to this computer so now I can post pictures.
My daughter is pregnant with her 4th child due end of July and this one will be another boy. They plan on naming him Justin Robert, we don't care for the name so we are calling him JBob. Here is a picture of the quilt I made him. I used a panel and then added the 9 patches. I really like the way it turned out. I used a piece of flannel that I dyed for the back so it will be nice and soft. I still need to bind it but I have time for that I think I will bind it in green.

Jellyroll Colorwash Quilt
This past week I have been finishing up getting ready for Paducah. A local gal wrote a pattern called Jellyroll Colorwash Quilt using one jellyroll. A jellyroll consists of 40-2 1/2" strips. In my quilt I used a colorwheel of 3 shades so I had 45-2 1/2" strips. It stil needs quilting but I think I will hang itin my booth. I do have the pattern for sale.

Crazy Quilt
I started a crazy quilt last week and decided to take it apart and start over. It had only 6 blocks to start with and I thought I wanted it bigger so I took it apart and made 12 more blocks. I finished it today and also quilted it. I also dyed some more fabric for the binding since I hadn't dyed enough to start with. I'm going to use this as a table topper for the table my cash register sits on at shows.

shibori swap, handdyed quilt
I'm not done with this yet but thought I'd show you what I have been working on the last few days. I still need to put 3 borders on this, Its called hearts and flowers. I used all scrap fabric but did need to dye the red for the hearts and one of the borders. I still need to dye the backing fabric probably be a light blue or a light red, not sure yet.

This shibori piece is for my dyeing group swap. I used a light blue and then put it on a pole and painted on a darker blue. I did a yard like this.
