Snowdyeing Experiment

The other day someone was talking about snowdyeing by sprinkling dye powder on snow and letting the snow melt. They said that it even worked with turquoise. I decided to experiment since I had used greens that had turquoise in the mix in the past with snow and had gotten really pale results. Here are my results. I can see the turquoise in my final pieces but it is very pale and most of the dye washed out. I still think that when you use turquoise that you need to keep the temp warmer as turquoise likes warm temps.SNOW

  1. Interesting technique. It is funny as it looks so dark as the snow is melting into the fabric, but very pale at the end.

  2. Turquoise is disappointing. It is a lovely color but not suitable for snow dyeing.
