weather and quilting

Once again we are under a tornado watch until 3am, it's going to be a long night  here in Central MO. Keep all those in harms way in your prayers, I hear 7 have died in OK today and they are still finding bodies in Joplin MO which is only 3 hours south west of me.

Today I spend part of the day working on a client's quilt and tomorrow will be another busy day for me. My dh has allergies to something where it is breaking out around his eyes and inflaming the area around them so we are off to the city tomorrow to the dermatologist.  I sure hope they give him something to help him.

more quilting and weather

This is another client's quilt that I finished quilting today.

After getting this quilt quilted I went back to working on the Fairfax County Fair quilt until the power went out, I have only one more border to put on it and then get it quilted not sure if it will happen tomorrow my grandkids are coming for a visit so no quilting while they are here only playing. We had some severe weather go through here this afternoon, there were tornado warnings everywhere and one actually one was spotted on the ground by a state trooper. We faired the storm with only the power going out for about an hour or so, I hope all my friends are okay I'm sure I will hear from them later.

Wednesday already

I can't believe that today is already Wednesday half the week is over and I don't have any pics to share. This week I have been busy dyeing fabric and cutting up batiks for my next show which is in Stover, Mo and called the Gatherin. This show is March 26th and 27th so if your in the area stop in there will be 25 shops it's like a shop hop all in one spot.

The weather today has been unseasonably warm with a high today of 73 degrees but this won't last as we are having a cold front come through and severe storms to watch for overnight. Weather for the rest of the week rain and 40's. At least I was able to open the windows and air out the house and studio today.

Is this August?

I can't believe the weather today for the end of August, usually we have 100 degrees and 100% humidity but no today's high is 69 and low humidity, we actually have the windows opened. Strange for mid Missouri.

I got a lot accomplished today, rinsed, washed and pressed 9 yards of snowdyed fabric, dyed 6 more yards of snowdyed fabric and then I got the binding all sewn on the Sun of the Inca's quilt and I started to clean my studio when I got side tracked. I came across this fabric to make a halloween bag so I ended up making this bag for my grandson Justin. He is only a year old but his brothers and sister have one so I thought I should make one for him to.

After a warm 80 degree day yesterday we had severe weather with heavy rain and tornado warnings. This was the first time in 6 years that I have lived here heard the sirens go off in town. We headed next door to my studio where it was safer.

Today I got back to dyeing. I did 9 yards of snowdyed fabric, a color wheel and a gradation. Here are a couple pictures of the color-wheels I did last week.


Tomorrow I take Marc to have a shot of steroids put directly into his spine. They usually give him an epidural in the doctor's office but choose to do something different this time. We get up really early and head to Jeff City which is about an hour drive for a 7:30 am appointment. I sure hope this helps this time and they won't have to do surgery. The doctor doesn't want to go the surgery route at this time due to his past health history with the blood clots and heart in a-fib just this last August.

weather,gas,dyeing

Wow the weather here has been really hot and humid. We have been having heat advisories today and for the next couple days. With the heat index up in the low hundreds you have to really watch out. I did get a swim today but it really wasn't refreshing as it was yesterday.

I can't believe the cost of gas has gone down a little instead of up. I was able to get gas for $3.59 today. Last week while in the city though we were able to get it for 3.41. It really makes you wonder why there is such a big difference in the price from one town to another. We drove around the lake here today and in one town it was 3.69, another was 3.62 and yet another 3.64.

I did get to do a little dyeing today. Here is a piece that I just love the way the color came out.

mystery quilt, bingo prize and weather

Today the weather started off really nice even got up to 70 again today but with weather like this and a cold front going through we are now getting severe weather. Infact we have tornado watches out. We did have some warnings this afternoon for my county but they were all north of me the closest was a funnel cloud sited about 15 miles from me.

I made 5 of these blocks for the mystery quilt I'm working on. There are 8 of these blocks for installment number 5, 3 more to go.


I also worked on getting the Spidron quilted and bound. I'm not real good with freehand so the curves are a little wonky.
