It sure has been busy around here the last few days. I had a couple zucchini's in my frig I needed to do something with so I made these two loaves of bread. Thanks to my facebook friends for the recipe, I had this one recipe I used for the last 20 some years but when I went to use I just couldn't find it. These were okay but not as good as the old recipe. One gal sent me her chocolate zucchini bread recipe and I have never heard of that before and was a little leery of trying it. Maybe next time.

Yes this is exactly what it looks like. I snowdyed 4 t shirts and 4 small pieces of velvet today. Being 95 today with a heat index of 105 I choose to use the  make my own snow method on these. I'll post pics tomorrow of the final after washout.

I have a client that was wanting a special order of handdyes made for her this is a 1 3/4 yard piece that should work great for the project she has in mind. This is one side and the next picture is the other side of the fabric.

A few of you had asked me to post a picture of the fabric I had sitting on the new table I used. This the fabric, it is 109" by 2 yards it will be used for my client's backing on her quilt when she makes it.

These two pieces are also for my client, the gold looks great in this picture but the picture of  the blue/green shows mostly the blue but in actuality it is mainly green the picture color is way off. I still have one more piece of fabric batching and then I will be done with this order.

Today in the mail I received Jane Dunnewold new book. I have only had time to flip through it but it really looks like it will be a great addition to my library.

This quilt is the Cowboy quilt I made for Downy's Quilt For Kids Program. I finished the princess one that they sent me a kit and they ask if you will make another one to send back I dug in my stash and found this kit. I'm sure some little sick boy will love this flannel quilt. I dyed the back of it to mach the blue on the top. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the back.

Today I also rusted fabric, I did about 6 yards, 3 yards were put around the burn barrel and the other 3 or so yards wad put into fat quarters and used with small rusty pieces. They are batching now and tomorrow I will do the rinse out and hope to share pics with you.

back to dyeing

Today I got back to dyeing and dyed these onesies. The newborn size was really hard to spiral and didn't turn out to well. I also snowdyed some and have those batching so hopefully tomorrow I can share pics with you all.



I have no idea what is going on with my computer right now but it keeps flickering. It's plugged in and not loose I just hope it's not going out on me.

We are under a winter storm advisory again today. The snow started about 1 this afternoon and is suppose to snow all night and into tomorrow afternoon. I sure hope we don't get all they are saying. And after the snow we are suppose to get an artic blast with tempss that don't reach 10 and windchills to 30 below. Everyone dealing with the harsh weather please stay safe.

After a warm 80 degree day yesterday we had severe weather with heavy rain and tornado warnings. This was the first time in 6 years that I have lived here heard the sirens go off in town. We headed next door to my studio where it was safer.

Today I got back to dyeing. I did 9 yards of snowdyed fabric, a color wheel and a gradation. Here are a couple pictures of the color-wheels I did last week.


Tomorrow I take Marc to have a shot of steroids put directly into his spine. They usually give him an epidural in the doctor's office but choose to do something different this time. We get up really early and head to Jeff City which is about an hour drive for a 7:30 am appointment. I sure hope this helps this time and they won't have to do surgery. The doctor doesn't want to go the surgery route at this time due to his past health history with the blood clots and heart in a-fib just this last August.

I took Marc to the spine specialist, they took xrays to make sure he hadn't broke anything and to see if the hardware in his back was still okay. They think he may have hurt his back when he fell while we were in Bloomington. They think he may have ruptured another disc so he goes for an mri tomorrow. Each one of these trips is an hour each way so it's another all day thing. We also need to go to Columbia shopping so will go after the mri. They did give him pain killers so he is feeling a little better.

Back to dyeing, besides all the running I have done yesterday and today I have been getting a little dyeing done. Today I did 2---12 step color wheels, 18 yards of snowdyed and did some parfaits and just played. I have 14 yards sitting there waiting for me to iron and I hope to get that done tomorrow late afternoon or evening along with rinsing out the snowdyed fabric I have sitting there.

Grandkids, dyeing, rain

I got to spend a little time with my grandkids. I don't get to see them to often but it was nice to see tonight. Their dad is doing guard duty this week so we took them a pizza and had a good time. This is the first time there has been a picture of all four of them together.

Baby Justin 6 weeks old. This poor baby has been through so much during his short life. He was very jaundice when he was born, he hasn't been able to keep all his formula down even with changing it and now he has a heart murmur we are hoping he out grows it. Just a few pictures I thought I might share.

I did do more snowdyeing today and also got my slideshow quilt quilted and bound ready to hang at my next show.

It has been raining here since last night. We have gotten more then two inches of rain and are expecting alot more. This is the rain from tropical storm Gustav.

Best Buy, dyeing

Well when I thought I was getting data recovery from my harddrive that crashed Best Buy in Jeff City Mo messed up again. We have been waiting ALL summer for the data recovery. Wondering what had happened to it dh starting a long line of calling people and getting pushed from one person to another until he was given someone that new what had happened with it. My dh called numerous people and finally found that it was received at Best Buy in Jeff City on July 24th by UPS. Well we were NEVER called that it was there and ready to pick up. We were told that they only keep items for 30 days and then pitch it. The people at Best Buy assured us someone would be looking for it and would call us. Well that was yesterday and we again haven't heard a word from them. We have left several messages with corporate office and NOBODY ever returns a phone call. We have had a bad taste in our mouth from Best Buy from the run around we have gotten in the past but this is really getting ridiculous. All I wanted was the recovery of my data from the old harddrive and now I have nothing. I know of a few people who will NEVER be purchasing anything else from this company.

On to dyeing, This past week I have been trying to do 12 yards of snowdyed fabric a day since I got home from the Nashville show. To date I do have 48 yards of snowdyed done and 50 yards of other pieces done but I only have 55 yards of fabric ironed so a little to get caught up with there. I would like to do 12 yards a day of the snowdyed for the next week. I still have to label all of it, some were cut in fat quarters and some were in half yards and the rest in yard pieces. I leave in another week to go to Madison,WI for the Quilt Expo put on by Nancy Zeman.

weather,gas,dyeing

Wow the weather here has been really hot and humid. We have been having heat advisories today and for the next couple days. With the heat index up in the low hundreds you have to really watch out. I did get a swim today but it really wasn't refreshing as it was yesterday.

I can't believe the cost of gas has gone down a little instead of up. I was able to get gas for $3.59 today. Last week while in the city though we were able to get it for 3.41. It really makes you wonder why there is such a big difference in the price from one town to another. We drove around the lake here today and in one town it was 3.69, another was 3.62 and yet another 3.64.

I did get to do a little dyeing today. Here is a piece that I just love the way the color came out.

Today I was able to get the logcabin quilt quilted and bound. It turned out pretty good, I used a meandering feather panto by Linda Taylor.

I didn't get the Stars and Strips on the machine like I had hoped I would with therapy today so tomorrow I will get it put on/quilted and bound.

The mail today brought me some locking syringes and some 10 mil cylinders, hopefully I'll get back to dyeing this weekend.
